The Association of Open Group Enterprise Architecture (AOGEA) Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter (WMA) was established in 2007 to provide a forum for organizing and fostering growth amongst enterprise architecture professionals in the National Capitol Region – the areas of the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland that surround the Nation’s Capital.
The AOGEA-WMA is a chapter of the nation-wide Association of Open Group Architects established under the auspices of The Open Group – proponents of the TOGAF (The Open group Architecture Framework) enterprise architecture framework. Membership in the AOGEA-WMA requires full or associate membership in the Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects.
Since its inception in 2007, the membership of AOGEA has been growing and will continue to grow. With the increasing interest in TOGAF in the commercial world coupled with the increased supply of certified enterprise architects for the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and the Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF), the profession is alive and well in the National Capital Region.
To prepare for the growth of the AOGEA-WMA lays out a functional structure and foundations for organization. There is a understanding that along with growth comes evolution in thinking as well as in the appropriate organizational structures. This foundation describes the initial incarnation of a evolving structure that will make the AOGEA-WMA a brand name in enterprise architecture affinity groups.
